Our Services
Through our two core programs, CHIRP and the WVYMF Scholarship, we help remove the financial and logistical barriers that too often stand between students and their musical potential.
CHIRP gives gently used instruments a second life by placing them in the hands of students whose families may not be able to afford one. The WVYMF Scholarship builds on that foundation by funding private lessons, summer music camps, ensemble fees, and college-level music studies.
These are more than programs. They are pathways. Each one is designed to nurture talent, build confidence, and ensure that no student is denied the chance to grow through music.
When a young person is given the tools and support to pursue their passion, the possibilities are endless. The music speaks for itself.
Behind Every Great Musician Is Someone Who Believed in Them
The WVYMF Scholarship Program offers financial support to students who show passion, dedication, and promise—but lack the means to pursue their goals. These scholarships are designed to help young musicians take the next step, whether that means studying music in college or finally owning an instrument of their own.
From tuition assistance and college application costs to instrument purchases and audition prep, our scholarships are here to remove the financial barriers that stand between talent and opportunity.
Nominations are open to educators, mentors, and community members who see what we see: raw potential, waiting to be nurtured.
Because when we invest in young musicians, we don’t just fund their future—we help them find their voice.
Every Instrument Has a Story. Let Yours Begin a New One.
Across West Virginia, countless instruments sit tucked away in closets and attics—silent, forgotten, but still full of potential. The CHIRP program gives those instruments a second life, placing them in the hands of students who might otherwise never get the chance to play.
Through our partnerships with Bandland in Clarksburg and Beni Kedem Temple in Charleston, donated instruments are professionally evaluated, repaired when needed, and matched with students whose families may not have the means to purchase or rent their own. It’s a simple act of generosity that can spark a lifelong love of music.
Donating is easy. Just drop off your instrument at either location and a staff member will help guide you through the process. If you’re unable to visit in person, [click here] to message us or email wvymfund@gmail.com, and we’ll work with you to arrange a pickup or find another convenient solution.
We’re continuing to expand our donation sites across West Virginia to make it even easier to give—because one instrument, placed in the right hands, can change everything.
